Drawing from my own experiences, I developed a deep appreciation for the impact of nutrient-dense foods after overcoming an eating disorder in my early 20s.
Through daily practice of breathwork, meditation, immersion in nature, and a conscious shift towards nutrient-rich foods from healthy grass-fed animals, I witnessed the profound transformation that can occur when we prioritise our well-being.
Along the way, I became a qualified personal trainer, creating a thriving business working from home and online, where I focused on strength training women and helping them become their strongest selves. During this time, I found myself devouring book after book on women’s reproductive health, discovering a deep passion for supporting women through all stages of life.
Little did I know that this journey was preparing me for the most profound role of my life - becoming a mother to a wonderful little boy.
During my pregnancy, I became increasingly aware of how many products and foods, despite being marketed as healthy, were filled with synthetic additives and lacked true nourishment. Skincare options were filled with ingredients that didn’t align with my desire for nutrient-rich formulations, while packaged foods often concealed unnecessary additives. This awareness led me to embrace a whole foods approach, intentionally preparing all my meals and snacks to ensure they were rich in nutrients for me and my growing baby.
My dedication to holistic wellness deepened as I became a Qualified Fertility Nutritional Advisor, gaining insight into the complex and intricate nature of conception and pregnancy, while also beginning my studies in Holistic Nutrition. During this time, as I began my breastfeeding journey as a new mother, I truly noticed the gap between women and their natural wisdom to nourish their bodies.
I saw unfounded fears surrounding nutrient-dense foods like liver during pregnancy, along with the misguided avoidance of beneficial saturated fats. Over time, it became clear that many women’s intuition and judgment around their own nourishment had been clouded.
This realisation sparked a deep passion within me to inspire women to reconnect with their innate wisdom and make empowered, nourishing choices for themselves and their families.
By creating Maia, I aim to provide time-honoured, nourishing products for mothers and their families, celebrating natural intuition from pregnancy and beyond. Keeping things simple, I believe a basic understanding of food is one of the most valuable assets a mother can possess.
